WHAT WE DO
As an citizen education and advocacy organization, the League of Women Voters of the Cincinnati Area:
Publishes the "Who and What of Elections", a voters guide for the general election, offering nonpartisan information about candidates and issues. This publication is distributed free to the community through the branches of the Hamilton County Public Library and to schools and organizations upon request.
Provides a website that contains regional on-line election and voter information utilizing the Smart Voter website. Posts League publications on-line.
Publishes "They Represent Us... A Directory of Public Officials, Hamilton County, Ohio." and distributes it free of cost to community organizations.
Provides speakers on a variety of subjects, including election issues, to community, private and business organizations.
Sponsors public meetings on topics of community interest.
Moderates local candidates meetings and debates in the community and on local TV
Researches, studies and discuss issues in small groups.
Monitors and influences governmental action.
Undertakes activities to implement League positions: by holding meetings with elected officials; sponsoring public meetings; talking with community representatives and the media; and utilizing such lobbying techniques as testifying, writing letters, making phone calls and sending emails.
Publishes "Know Hamilton County" which shows the role of the county and how various units of government relate to it, and includes an overview of selected local government services in the county.
Publishes and distributes information for students, schools, and libraries
Register voters at special events.
The League's Annual Report gives an indepth look at our activities.
